RUO joins criticism of Czech Government´s approach to social services and EU structural funds.

The authors of this appeal are highly concerned with, and warn against, a gradual liquidation of NGOs caused by the lack of the government's interest as well of financial means. The current situation makes the authors of this appeal afraid that this is not any momentary accident but one of the tell-tale examples of the Czech state’s essential disregard for the NGO sector and even a symptom of the government refusal to see a greater promotion and assertion of participatory democracy.

ECA declares its support for the appeal by citizens of Prague

The European Council of Artists (ECA) – the umbrella organisation of professional artists' associations from 25 countries across Europe, which represents in excess of 250,000 artists – declares its support for the appeal by citizens of Prague for cultural support in a letter to Prague Mayor Pavel Bem on May 23, 2008. In autumn 2007 ECA corresponded with the City authorities about the suspension of grants iand was in November assured by the councillor for culture Mr Milan Richter that the intermediate problems were solved and that the support to Prague culture would be restored.
